The ChemQuest Group has appointed two new directors, Michael Henningsen, Ph.D., and Graeme Roan, Ph.D.
A highly knowledgeable industrial chemist, Henningsen (main picture) developed extensive global leadership experience over a more than 30-year career with BASF. Initially joining BASF AG as a lab manager, he rose through roles of increasing responsibility to become director of global product development for the intermediates division of BASF SE. Henningsen has built on his expertise in epoxy chemistry and applications, wind energy, and project management to author/co-author 45 patents and 15 papers.
Henningsen studied chemistry at the University of Hannover, where he earned his doctorate, and Imperial College, London. He is fluent in German and English.
“ChemQuest is a consulting firm well-known in the industry for its in-depth knowledge and tremendous expertise,” Henningsen said. “I am very excited to join the ChemQuest team and draw on my experience in the specialty chemicals and materials industries to contribute to the success of our clients.”
Roan (pictured, left) is an accomplished global strategy and market manager with a robust history of crafting and implementing innovative marketing strategies for technical products in the specialty chemicals sector. Throughout his extensive career, he has held a range of technical and business development roles with companies such as ICI Acrylics, Henkel, and CCT Tapes. Most recently, Roan served as global strategy and market manager for Synthomer.
Roan has been an active supporter of the Pressure Sensitive Tape Council, having served as chair of the Marketing Committee and Education Committee. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Strathclyde and a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Nottingham.

As an organisation, they have always presented deep insight and knowledge through their well-regarded consultants in both market and technical areas,” Roan said. “With my Ph.D. background in chemistry and time spent in both technical roles and marketing/business development roles across the adhesives industry, I look forward to adding insight and awareness to client projects to help achieve success.”
Both Henningsen and Roan will support clients in ChemQuest’s Business Strategy & Transformation, Technology Development, and M&A Advisory Services pillars. In addition, Henningsen will also bring his expertise to projects related to Operational & Manufacturing Efficiencies.
