The Asia Pacific Coatings Show opened in style today, with Mr Jullapong Thaveesri, Director General of the Department of Industrial Works, officially opening the show alongside Mr Sarawut Rachanakul, President of the Thai Paint Manufacturers Association (TPMA) at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), Thailand. After the official opening ceremony, the delegation toured around the bustling show floor meeting key exhibitors, which include allnex (Thailand), Bühler, Shandong Landu, Behn Meyer (Thailand), Roha Dyechem and sponsors; DR Coats Ink & Resins as Lanyard Sponsor and Kevin (India) Co. as Gold Sponsor for the event.
The exhibition is supported by the TPMA and represents the strength of the Thai paint and coatings industry, which continues to be a powerhouse in the ASEAN region. For the next three days (6-8 September 2023), visitors to the Asia Pacific Coatings Show will be able to meet more than 200 companies and brands representing the full spectrum of the coatings industry, from raw materials suppliers to equipment manufacturers, all under one roof. The exhibition will offer visitors and exhibitors an unparalleled opportunity to network, reinforcing existing relationships and forging completely new ones.
Event Director, Paddy O’Neill said, “It’s truly delightful to bring the show back to Bangkok since we last organized it in 2019. The Asia Pacific Coatings Show continues to be the most influential gathering for the coatings community in the Asia Pacific region, a region which is so integral to the global coatings industry in terms of both output and innovation. I’m pleased with the turnout and look forward to welcoming many more visitors to the show over the next two days.”

Expanding knowledge
In addition to the invaluable networking opportunities, attendees at the event can enrich their expertise through the Asia Pacific Coatings Conference and the Business Presentations Hub. The Conference, commencing today, features Niko Safavi, CEO of Mowilex Indonesia, as the distinguished keynote speaker, initiating the proceedings. His presentation discussed environmental responsibility as a stakeholder and how the management of companies, including paints and coatings, is facing a significant shift in expectations. Mr. Safavi noted how traditionally management focused on balancing the needs of customers, employees, and shareholders; however, a new challenge has emerged with the rise of the environmental voice through the internet and social media. Regulatory requirements in this realm are still developing and the presentation explored the evolving dynamics of management’s balancing act in addressing risks and forming successful strategies; the transition from ‘sustainability’ to ‘environmental responsibility’ and the crucial role of ethical disclosures; and how to harness the challenges as opportunities to thrive in the market, setting oneself apart from those resistant to change.
Upcoming highlights for the day include an insightful overview of the global coatings industry by Ramakrishnan Bharathan from Orr & Boss, an informative discussion on ‘Chemical regulations in Thailand and ASEAN countries in 2023’ led by Dr. Piyatida Pukclai of Knoell, a compelling presentation by Sarawut Rachanakul, CEO of J.B.P. International Paint, on ‘Green supply chain collaborative innovation in the paint industry,’ and engaging presentations by esteemed chemical giants BASF and Nouryon.
On 7 September, the Business Presentation Hub is set to captivate attendees. This platform offers a unique opportunity for visitors to gain insights into cutting-edge products and innovations presented by top exhibiting companies, including but not limited to Willy A Bachofen, Bühler, Shandong Landu, Sauradip Chemicals, and many others.
