PPG will sponsor WorldSkills Lyon 2024, the world’s largest vocational skills competition, which will take place Sept. 10-15, 2024, in Lyon, France. PPG will provide financial support and will also supply products and expertise for the Painting and Decorating skill category, including SEIGNEURIE® paints by PPG.
WorldSkills Lyon 2024 will bring together more than 1,500 young professionals from more than 60 countries and regions, who will compete in 62 different skills across a wide range of industries. The event aims to raise the profile and recognition of skilled people and show how important vocational skills are in achieving economic growth and personal success.
“WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is more than just a competition – it aims to inspire young people to pursue their professional aspirations, to promote skilled careers and vocational training, and provide a pathway to excellence and self-fulfillment,” said Franck Le Roux, Executive Director, WorldSkills Lyon 2024. “We also want to promote French expertise and the skills of our young people at the highest level and develop vocational training standards.”

“We are honoured to partner with WorldSkills Lyon 2024 and contribute to this inspiring adventure, which showcases the talent and potential of young people around the world,” said Pascal Tisseyre, PPG Vice President, EMEA South, Architectural Coatings. “We have been a partner of the WorldSkills movement in France for 12 years so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to support the international competition.”
As a Gold Sponsor of the Painting and Decorating skill category, PPG will provide products, including Seigneurie Evolutex Bas Carbone paint, which includes bio-based raw materials. The company will also support the WorldSkills experts, who will evaluate the performance and quality of the work done by the participants. Competitors will be challenged to demonstrate their abilities in tasks such as surface preparation, wallpapering, applying decorative finishes and colour matching.
“We are grateful for PPG’s continued support and involvement in the WorldSkills Lyon 2024 adventure,” said Le Roux. “PPG is a valued partner that shares our vision of improving the world through the power of skills. With the company’s help, we can provide a world-class platform for young professionals to showcase their skills and learn from each other.”
PPG’s sponsorship of WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is part of its global commitment to support education and workforce development initiatives that prepare students for careers in the skilled trades. In 2023, PPG and the PPG Foundation announced a $2 million investment to support programs that provide training, curriculum development and career readiness resources for students and educators.
