Omnova Solutions has unveiled its Pliotec HDT16 binder designed for the formulation of anticorrosion DTM (Direct to Metal) paints and multi-surface renovation paints.
Pliotec HDT16 delivers increased hardness with superior adhesion to both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Like Omnova’s Pliotec HDT12 polymer, this newest addition to Omnova’s portfolio of high-performance resins offers excellent water resistance properties. This advantage is due to a unique polymer design and manufacturing process that results in hydrophobic functional polymers with a minimal amount of free surfactants.
"Omnova’s Hydrophobic Dispersion Technology has made Pliotec HDT12 the environmentally preferred choice for the formulation of DTM coatings,” said Jean-Marie Schmuck, Marketing Manager, Coating Resins, EMEAI. "It offers a performance boost for DTM light industrial applications and is also well suited for the formulation of multi-surface renovation paints.” Omnova’s Pliotec HDT resins provide anti-corrosion paints with very low water permeability and excellent corrosion resistance, without the need for inhibitive pigments. Paints formulated with Pliotec HDT resins are characterised by a high gloss level, with greater ageing resistance and colour retention. They also offer both mechanical and aesthetic qualities (film without residual tack, increased impact resistance and a smooth finish).
