With the recent formal incorporation of coatingAI AG, the business is firmly on track in its mission to support customers in the coatings industry by leveraging the benefits of AI for process automation.
Based in Winterthur, Switzerland, the team at coatingAI is harnessing advanced computer vision and machine learning technologies to deliver a revolutionary solution for coating industry customers. Not only will coatingAI’s solution ensure process and coating quality stability, but it will also reduce costs and environmental impacts.
The deployment of coatingAI removes any ambiguity when defining the optimal machine parameters. Meanwhile, compensation is automatically made for changes in environmental conditions and, regardless of who is operating the line, stable coating quality is assured. Therefore, machine learning technologies significantly reduce powder consumption, production rejects and labour intensity.
Following a programme of intensive R&D, the first coatingAI prototype was tested in January, and training data analysis is currently underway, with field trials scheduled to begin later this year. The global launch of the final product is expected in mid-2022.
Marlon Boldrini, Co-Founder of coatingAI said: "We are very excited to have taken this important step on our journey to revolutionise the coatings world. Our solution, with its blend of advanced 3D computer vision and true machine learning, will not only promote improved business performance, but also drive greater sustainability within the coatings industry.”
Malcolm Werchota, Co-Founder of coatingAI added: "While we celebrate this moment and thank all those who have worked so hard to make it happen, we remain focused on our rigorous programme. Over the coming months, we will be reaching out still further to seek strategic alliances and collaborations, which will support the widest possible adoption of our game-changing solution.”
