The Lubrizol Corporation has launched Solsperse™ 87000 Hyperdispersant – a unique dispersant technology enabling the industry to produce more cost-effective dispersions of UV inks containing rubine, maroon and other red pigments.
The UV-cured inks market remains one of the fastest growing segments in the inks market with favourable sustainability benefits and with growth expected to be 6-9% through 2025.
For years, formulating UV-cured inks using process magenta, such as C.I Pigment Red 57.1, has been a challenge.
Undesirable viscosity increases and gelation of pigment concentrates and finished inks are common (particularly at elevated temperatures and over time), which leads to inconsistent quality and unpredictable ink stability.
Solsperse 87000, a 100% active, flowable dispersant, is designed to solve this issue cost effectively across a broad range of commercially available pigments used in the production of process magenta.
"UV ink formulators will realse tremendous value in the ability of Solsperse 87000 Hyperdisperant technology to improve viscosity stability, reducing the complexity of dispersing tricky pigments like C.I Pigment Red 57.1”, shared Peter Livesey, Marketing Manager.
"It solves the long-standing issues around storage and shipping UV inks and dispersions based on these pigments, resulting in cost savings for the ink maker”.
