IST Metz GmbH, a Nürtingen, Germany-based supplier of UV curing systems, opened a new sales office in Tokyo on April 1.
Following the successful establishment of subsidiaries in China in 2010 and Thailand in 2011, the company is set to further explore the East Asian market. "Demand in Asia continues to grow and we thus came to the decision to further expand our presence here,” explained Dirk Jägers, MD of IST Metz GmbH.
The main focus of the new IST Metz East Asia KK will be to attract clientele from outside the graphics industry. "We will have access to both the Japanese and Korean markets from our Tokyo base, whose close technological and economic ties go beyond the print sector,” said Markus Thinnes, who will be taking over as head of the new company. He has been working in the Japanese printing sector for the past 17 years, five of which were spent at IST Metz.
IST East Asia KK also represents the 10th international subsidiary of IST Metz since it was established. Six subsidiaries in Western Europe, a company in the USA, as well as the subsidiaries in China and Thailand, make up the international sales offices
