It has been brought to our notice by the Consortium Manager of the Iron Oxides REACH Registration Consortium, IORC, that in the July EU round up on page 8, it is incorrectly stated that iron oxide black had not been REACH registered. The substance had been registered in 2010 under another name and EC/CAS number, which is a synonym. Iron oxide black has EC No 235-442-5 and CAS 12227-89-3. It is also known as Magnetite EC 215-169-8, CAS 1309-38-2; and as Triiron tetraoxide EC 215-277-5, CAS 1317-61-9. It is this latter name and CAS/EC number that was used for registration. In the registration, the other names above and EC/CAS numbers have been listed as synonyms, please see ECHA dissemination website.
