The HMG Paints charity bike ride team, is currently over the moon after surpassing its fundraising target of £5000. The amateur cyclists completed a 122-mile bike ride from Manchester to Scarborough, in June, raising vital funds for close partners Macmillan Cancer Support.
The journey began from HMG Paints’ Manchester Headquarters with Fundraising Manager for Greater Manchester, Mandy West, waiting for the arrival of the cyclists at their first day finish point, Clifford’s Tower, York "We are so proud of everyone from HMG Paints who took part in this cycling challenge and those who have supported the team,” said Mandy. "The amount raised is absolutely fantastic and really will make a huge difference. It is because of the support we receive from individuals and businesses like HMG Paints that we can offer the services we do and they are helping us achieve our ambition to make sure no one faces cancer alone in Manchester.”
Throughout the second day the riders progressed in good time, battling through the mountainous route to their destination, with support from cheering motorists and pedestrians along the way. As they arrived, along the sea front of Scarborough, the wearied cyclists were welcomed by a crowd of family and friends cheering them down the last straight. "I am so proud of the team for pushing themselves to the limits to raise funds for Macmillan, I can’t believe the support we have received from family, friends, customers and suppliers of HMG. It has been a very enjoyable but tough experience and I can’t wait to hand over the cheque to Macmillan because that’s what it has all been about” Paddy Dyson, HMG Paints Marketing Manager and bike ride participant.
The total raised currently stands at more than £7100. The fundraising page for this event will still be accepting donations until the end of the year. If you would like to donate please visit www.justigiving.com/hmg-paints
