HMG Paints has announced the launch of a new range of coloured bases to supplement the UNIT LITE system, providing customers with their very own paint factory, in-house.
The new coloured bases are available for the XSC98/11, XSC21, 14 Line Polyurethane and SAH300 Brushing systems in yellow and red. These bases can be used in formulations to produce over 2000 colours using the UNIT LITE system in conjunction with HMG’s Colourbase software.
The family owned company, based in Collyhurst, Manchester, has been manufacturing and developing industrial paints for 82 years and is now the UK’s largest industrial coatings manufacturer.
The company prides itself on its innovative background and is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to help customers develop and attract new business. These new additions to the product portfolio are the result of extensive collaboration between the R&D department and Colour Lab at HMG.
An ongoing concern for paint users is the need to adhere to REACH restrictions which limit the use of certain substances, such as lead, in paint products. As these new bases have been specially designed to strengthen our lead free portfolio, they offer an environmental benefit to customers in helping them keep to these regulations.
Steve Hutton, Colour Manager, commented on HMG’s pledge to a greener future, remarking: "We are committed to protecting the environment and promoting greener business methods. By bolstering the existing range of lead free colours in this way, customers are provided with additional solutions to shifting environmental requirements.”
He added, "Unlike many other lead free red and yellow coloured products, the new coloured bases have very high opacity levels, similar to the levels produced by conventional two pack topcoat finishes.
This high opacity reduces the number of coats required when painting, thus saving time and cutting costs.”
These new additions further strengthen the already versatile UNIT LITE system. This system is a standalone tinting system developed using HMG UNIT tinters that allows for more accurate tinting of pale and pastel shade colours, without the need for additional expensive machinery. Apart from with synthetic paint systems, UNIT LITE requires no additions after dispense, giving a complete and finished product.
A very versatile portfolio of products can be produced using the UNIT LITE system. A wide flexibility of sheen and opacity levels is on offer, with the capacity to produce gloss, satin and matt finishes. Unleaded and conventional products are also available for manufacture on the system.
UNIT LITE boasts a library of over 20,000 different colour formulations, including RAL, BS, Pantone, NCS, OEM, commercial fleet, agricultural machinery and house colours. The database of colours is updated regularly online, ensuring all new shade formulations and base products are added. Colours are reproduced with a consistently accurate colour due to the reduced strength of tinters. Furthermore, the quick turnaround of requested colour formulations offers customers a competitive advantage.
HMG Paints also offer fantastic support to distributors and bodyshops across the UK and Ireland. As well as housing the largest collection of classic car colours in the country, the colour library offers colour matching services with incredible accuracy and rapid turnaround.
The onsite laboratory also provides distributors with product support and new product development opportunities. The technical support team offer product assistance and technical and material safety data sheet details throughout the day and are only a phone call away.
In order to help customers promote their products and maximise their sales, the marketing department are available for consultation and will provide advertising literature, media exposure and promotional material. The company’s nationwide distribution network also means product deliveries are prompt yet flexible towards the needs of the customer.
