ASK Chemicals, a global leader in chemical solutions for the foundry industry and supplier of high-performance resins, has achieved a significant reduction in waste and resource consumption through intensive R&D efforts by utilising production side streams as a raw material source to develop new product formulations.
In its endeavour to reduce greenhouse gases, ASK Chemicals is taking another important step towards a more sustainable future through targeted distillate recycling. The company’s research and development activities have a clear focus on developing efficient products, while actively seeking more environmentally friendly and efficient raw materials and ways to reduce waste. One way to improve the environmental footprint and save waste is to use distillates.
Over the past few years, researchers at ASK Chemicals have investigated a variety of distillates and their suitability for use in formulations. The results are compelling: the Hilden-based company reports that in 2023, products based on recycled materials made up to approx. 15% of global resin production. The use of distillates at ASK Chemicals is subject to strict quality control to ensure the company’s well-known high product performance.
“We are pleased to report this noteworthy success on our sustainability journey,” said Dr. Jens Müller, Chief Technology Officer at ASK Chemicals. “Our progress in this area is proof of our commitment to resource efficiency and environmental responsibility. A big thank you to our teams in Research & Development and Process Engineering.”
