Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the whole world, the demand for disinfectant products has increased rapidly. For this reason, Shell’s Global Chemicals has provided 127,000lit of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to Turkey. Organik Kimya and Shell Turkey co-operated to donate 175,000lit of disinfectant to contribute to the demand in Turkey.
With the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Organik Kimya and Shell Turkey’s top priority is to protect the health and safety of their employees, customers and other stakeholders. It is predicted that disinfectant use will be more prevalent in the process of combating the pandemic, especially with the steps taken towards minimising the spread. Due to the urgency in the current situation all production and distribution activities were undertaken in May. The disinfectant produced was transferred to five-litre containers and was donated to the Ministry of Health and relevant government institutions by Organik Kimya and Shell Turkey.
Organik Kimya CEO Simone Kaslowski said: "We are very happy to support the successful process carried out in the field of health from the very first day in our country’s fight against COVID-19. We, as Organik Kimya, with Shell Turkey’s co-operation, implemented the disinfectant production project, to donate disinfectants to our Ministry of Health in order to contribute to this struggle. It is a privilege for us that the disinfectants that we produce, will help to protect our health workers. We will continue to protect our employees and, fulfill our responsibilities and serve our society. I would like to once again thank all involved in this important project, especially to Shell Turkey and our Ministry of Health. We will overcome these challenging times with unity and solidarity."
Shell Turkey Country President Ahmet Erdem said: "Shell Turkey, in order to be able to support the intense struggle throughout the country, provided fuel support to the Ministry of Health in March. At this time when hand sanitiser demand is rising, together with Organik Kimya, we took action to meet these needs in Turkey. We would like to especially thank everyone who contributed in this struggle, particularly to Organik Kimya. As Shell, we are glad to contribute to this struggle and the huge efforts we undertook using our fuel and chemical products. We believe that our country will overcome these difficult days in unity and solidarity."
