At the recent annual Responsible Care® & Sustainability Conference held in Miami, Florida, the American Chemistry Council recognised Covestro LLC with its Responsible Care® Product Safety Award, Waste Minimization, Reuse and Recycling Award, and Facility Safety Awards for five of its US sites. The marks the sixth time the company, a leading producer of high-performance polymers in North America, received the product safety award.
"Safety, both in our products and at our facilities, is a core component of who we are at Covestro,” said Haakan Jonsson, Chairman and President of Covestro LLC. "These awards affirm our commitment to safety and sustainability and showcase our innovative approach to overcoming challenges.”
Covestro was honoured with a Product Safety Award for its Desmopack™ RC product, a rapid curing adhesive designed for faster production while enhancing food safety in flexible packaging applications.
"The technology in Desmopack™ RC is an innovative approach to addressing the industry’s needs while focusing on safety, stewardship and sustainability in a real-world business application,” said Lisa Marie Nespoli, product safety manager at Covestro LLC. "The development required looking at adjacent markets and developing a novel solution to a problem that has never been solved before.”
The Waste Minimization, Reuse and Recycling Award was earned for a joint project between Covestro LLC and WTS Inc, designed to safely and sustainably manage end-of-life residual materials from trials and other byproducts with an eye toward recycling, reclamation and circular solutions.
The Facility Safety Excellence Award was earned by Covestro LLC sites in Pittsburgh, PA, Newark, OH, New Martinsville, WV and South Charleston, WV. The Facility Site Achievement Award was earned at the Baytown, TX site.
