AkzoNobel has launched TRINAR TC (Tough Coat), a new PFOA-free PVDF coil coating system that provides increased scratch, abrasion and stain resistance across diverse applications, including metal roofing, building and construction.
Tailored to the coil coating market, TRINAR TC is formulated from AkzoNobel’s latest proprietary resin and pigment formulation technology to strengthen product performance and hardness, providing increased resistance to abrasions and scratches during and after transport, fabrication and installation. In addition, it offers improved stain resistance and durability, enabling it to withstand harsh conditions and stay looking newer and cleaner over the life of the building.
TRINAR TC also drives business efficiencies while meeting sustainable goals. It advances AkzoNobel’s stance for leading sustainability in manufacturing production methods and in the coil coating process. TRINAR TC is manufactured in an advanced facility to ensure pinpoint colour targeting and quality consistency, while improving flow and levelling to increase productivity at the coaters. This new formulation is available in a broad range of colour and aesthetic options to match trends and project needs.
"This is another leap forward in our ambition to be the market leader. Not only does TRINAR TC offer the class-leading weathering performance you expect from a 70% PVDF coating, it now improves scratch and abrasion resistance, combined with increased flow and levelling, delivering significant business benefits for our coating customers,” said Manoel Rodrigues, Regional Commercial Director, Metal Coatings, Americas.
AkzoNobel’s robust evaluation program confirms that TRINAR TC resists abrasions better than competitors, even in higher temperatures, such as during installation on a hot roof. In addition, it is more resistant to dirt and stains, so owners enjoy less maintenance and lower costs to keep the building looking newer for longer.
"Over decades of experience, AkzoNobel experts have proven that we have a better way. TRINAR TC is specifically formulated to optimise performance. This latest offering performs at high coater application line speeds to increase the coating application window helping to improve productivity,” said Rodrigues.
