With the official grand opening of the new Silicone Synthesis Plant, on June 2, BRB has expanded its Malaysian industrial footprint to further back integrate in dimethicone copolyols, alkyl dimethicones and volatile dimethicones.
It is a multipurpose silicone synthesis plant and GMP production facility with a combined capacity of 10,000t/yr. The plant is designed to manufacture vinyl silicone fluid, silicone polyether, low viscosity polydimethyl siloxane fluids, cross-linkers and chain extenders, gum blends, silicone emulsions and silicone antifoams. These products cater for personal and home care, coating & construction and latex & rubber industries. BRB’s new plant is a MYR45M investment with a total land area of four acres (16,200m2). Construction began in May 2014 and was completed in Q2, 2016.
The plant was officiated by His Excellency Mr Harry Molenaar, Dutch ambassador in Malaysia, Datuk N Rajendran Nayaranasamy, Deputy CEO 2 for Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Datuk Baharuddin bin Mohd Rafik, Director for Royal Malaysia Custom Department, Selangor State Branch. For all visiting guests at the opening, a traditional lion dance performance followed by a guided tour of the plant was arranged. The performance of the lion dance symbolised the assurance that all of BRB’s efforts regarding the new Silicone Synthesis plant would be met with success.
