allnex, a global leader in sustainable and innovative resins for industrial coatings, announced today its plans to cease operations in its manufacturing site in Hamburg, Germany, in June 2024.
“The intention to close the Hamburg site came after a review of our competitive position in Europe for our liquid resins products”, said Miguel Mantas, allnex CEO. “The recent developments in energy prices, raw material costs and inflation have impacted our competitiveness in Europe.”
The manufacturing facility is expected to produce until mid-2024, after which the supply of the customers will be taken over by other allnex sites. Until the end of 2026, allnex plans to clean and dismantle the site.
The plan will affect the majority of about 130 employees at Hamburg. “We are committed to finding good solutions for our employees”, says Site Manager Gerrit Lieske. Consultations and negotiations with the works council will begin shortly.
