To celebrate the opening of the Colour Experience Room Milan, the Axalta Italy team recently hosted a networking day for customers and local design professionals. Situated on the campus of Axalta’s Italian headquarter, just outside the creative hub of Milan, the showroom is an invaluable resource for designers and architects specifying powder coatings for their projects.
During the opening day, visitors explored the showroom – a light and contemporary space – and enjoyed food, drinks and creative conversations. The new Colour Experience Room is designed as a ‘white canvas’ with more than 1000 colours and finishes on display, allowing for the different powder coatings to be viewed and compared, with plenty of daylight to help.
In addition to exploring the many samples, guests were given the task to select their favourite colour, and the answers were as colourful as a rainbow: Creative studio owner Anna Maria selected a green colour to represent hope, echoing the Italian phrase of ‘Verde Speranza’ which translated means ‘hope green’. Out of the many different greens displayed in the Colour Experience Room, she chose "Mint Green” (RAL6029) and explained how it signifies not only hopefulness but also nature and love.
Interior design student Alicia instantly recalled the pink colour of her cat’s nose and selected "Light Pink” (RAL3015) as her favourite, explaining that "I’ve recently moved from America to Italy, and I wasn’t able to bring my cats with me. One of them has this lovely pink nose which came to mind as soon as I saw this colour sample!”
Perhaps the recent pandemic has made us all long for home a little bit more than usual; Mattia, working as a motion designer and using colour as a source of inspiration for his work, was also guided by memories of his hometown. From the seaside city of Puglia, Mattia chose the "Signal Blue” sample (RAL 5005), pointing out how the sea has always been a part of his life, and that’s why – living in the Milan region, far away from any seas – he is always drawn to blue tones, reminding him of his coastal roots.
Ana Cecilia Montiel, Colour Specialist and Specification Leader for Italy, had a busy time welcoming everyone to the 80sqm Colour Experience Room. In addition to conversations about favourite colours, there were projects to be discussed and lots of post-pandemic catching up to be done.
Ana says: "It was a great day and lovely to see so many familiar and new faces. The Colour Experience Room is designed as a calm environment where industrial designers and architects can explore thousands of colour samples and utilise Axalta’s expertise in powder coatings. We’re now fully open to visitors and already have lots of meetings in the diary. The opening day was the perfect opportunity to show our network how excited we are about the new showroom, and sharing our passion for colour in design!”
The Colour Experience Room is located within Axalta’s Italian headquarters in Cavenago, close to Milan; offering support by appointment for architects and designers.
Now fully open, the team are looking forward to welcoming visitors.
