Nominations open for IChemE Congress and Board of Trustees

12 March 2024

Members of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) are being invited to put themselves forward for available positions on the Board of Trustees and Congress. Nominations open today, 12 March 2024.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of IChemE and has overall responsibility for setting the organisation’s strategic direction. Congress is the member advisory body to the Board of Trustees and consists of members elected from a range of geographical locations and membership grades.

IChemE President, Nigel Hirst, said: “If you are passionate about the future of our profession then I encourage you to consider standing for election to these fulfilling roles. As former Chair of Congress and current President, I can speak to the key influence that both these governance bodies have on the overall direction of the Institution. If you care about making an impact, putting your experience to good use, and ensuring a strong and vibrant future for chemical and process engineering, then please bring your skills and expertise to the table and have your say.”

Rob Peeling, Chair of Congress, added that: “Congress connects the membership with the Institution, so a broad range of voices across all membership grades and regions is vital to fully represent our members, and make sure our diverse needs and interests are understood. Volunteering to stand for election to IChemE’s governance bodies involves giving back to the profession – but there are also a great many things you can take away from the experience. I would encourage anyone considering standing for election towatch the recent Trustee and Congress webinar recording to discover more about the benefits of volunteering for our governance positions.”
