Beckers has appointed Nicklas Augustsson as its first ever Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), effective January 1, 2024. Nicklas will be a permanent member of the Executive Committee of Beckers Group, and will continue to report to Chief Technology Officer Gavin Bown.
Nicklas has been with Beckers for more than 20 years and has worked in various departments covering sales, research & development, and technical services. Since 2016 his focus has been sustainability, driving the Group sustainability agenda and heading the global sustainability team. He holds an M.Sc. in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and studied Business Administration and Business Development at the Stockholm School of Economics, as well as Leadership at INSEAD.
“Sustainability is a key ambition for Beckers and it supports our business strategy,” said Christophe Sabas, CEO of Beckers Group. “In creating a Chief Sustainability Officer seat on the Executive Committee, we want to strengthen what we do to reach our 2030 sustainability targets. This is a strong message to our internal organisation, and also to our customers and stakeholders, that Beckers is committed on sustainability.”
Gavin Bown, Beckers Group CTO added: “Nicklas has been instrumental in developing and driving the Group’s sustainability strategy. His promotion to CSO reflects his outstanding ownership and leadership in both strategy and execution, and the high strategic importance of sustainability to Beckers.”
