PPG has completed a Colorful Communities project that helped revitalise the Dahej Kanyashala primary school for girls in Dahej, India. The project brought together approximately 83 volunteers from PPG Asian Paints, a joint venture between PPG and Asian Paints, who spent more than 330 hours beautifying the school.
PPG provided more than US$17,200 (1.4M Indian rupees) in products and services for the project, including 119 gallons of Asian Paints products. The project created a colourful and vibrant space for the school’s 428 students. In total, 15 rooms were repainted, three of which feature colourful murals designed to help the children to learn subjects including geography and mathematics.
“We are thankful to PPG Asian Paints for its invaluable support,” said Monikaben Vijaykumar Patel, Principal of the school. “This is the first time that we have worked so closely with a company in this way. We look forward to more collaboration to help with the future development of our school and our students.”
PPG’s Colorful Communities programme provides volunteers and paint products along with financial contributions to bring colour and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Dahej, in the state of Gujarat, where PPG Asian Paints has a plant for coating resin manufacturing.
“The programme provides an opportunity to transform schools with fresh colours and energy to enhance learning experience of the students, as well as improve engagement during learning process,” said Jitendra Kalra, PPG Asian Paints CEO. “We are proud of our employee volunteers, who are instrumental in our efforts to better serve the communities we operate in through initiatives like these focused on community development.”
The Colorful Communities programme, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms, to bringing colour to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground. Since 2015, PPG has completed more than 470 Colorful Communities projects, impacting more than 8.2 million people in 50 countries. Learn more at communities.ppg.com.
