Lubrizol Advanced Materials M.S. S.L. (FKA Merquinsa) announces that it will participate at the 2014 FEICA European Adhesives and Sealants Conference taking place in Berlin, Germany from September 17-19. In addition to exhibiting its new and innovative soft, plasticizer-free TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) for hot melt adhesives (HMAs), Lubrizol will be giving a conference on how this innovative solution applies to adhesives and their applications in the textile, automotive and footwear industries.
Until recently, the softest, plasticizer-free TPUs (no risk of migration) available on the market typically provided hardness levels around the 70 Shore A value. Attempting to create softer materials with lower hardness levels often resulted in very sticky, non-scalable and non-processable materials. Identifying this market need, Lubrizol Engineered Polymers developed Pearlbond(TM) HM 46AB3 NAT 021, a new soft, plasticizer-free TPU grade for HMAs that provides a hardness level lower than 50 shore A.
Pearlbond(TM) HM 46AB3 NAT 021 is a plasticizer-free material providing excellent processing properties/no tack, and bonding properties at low temperatures with a hardness level lower than 50 shore A. Pearlbond(TM) HM 46AB3 NAT 021, specifically unique in the textile market, fills the gap between crystalline and amorphous TPU and offers a low hysteresis behavior resulting in a higher adaptability and response of the garment to body movement, granting it an additional soft touch. Within FEICA’s conference session "Non-reactive Hot Melt Adhesives" on September 18, Lubrizol will present its new Pearlbond(TM) HM 46AB3 NAT 021 grade in more detail.
Lubrizol’s Pearlstick(TM) and Pearlbond(TM) TPU product lines include TPU specialties used as additives to increase crystallization speed in PUR hot melts as well as in heat sealable fabrics for technical textiles and footwear.
